Lord of the Dance in 3D Seriously?

By EliseVanCise

Michael Flatley made a name for himself in the dance spectacular Riverdance. He left that show and created his own Lord of the Dance in 1996. It was an international hit. I myself was swept up into the awe of footwork and music.

Lord of the Dance is still being performed on worldwide tours. Flatley left Lord of the Dance to star in Feet of Flames.  This where my disappointment began.

While an enjoyable show, Feet of Flames, is just a different version of Lord of the Dance. For a very long time I held out hope for something new and original but nothing came. It seems this was all that was going to be offered.  And now Lord of the Dance is going to have a one week appearance in movie theaters … in 3D.

For one week in March the stage show will hit the big screen. Flatley will no doubt thrill audiences again this time in 3D but seriously… why?

I think this is a step too far.  The cow has been milked for over a decade, she needs a rest. Give us something new and exciting not a reincarnation of the same show over and over.  I won’t be buying tickets. I have the DVD at home. I can watch the fairytale unfold comfortably in my pjs with a bowl of Rocky Road.

I’m not saying I dislike the show only that in my humble opinion this is too much. Kind of like Robocop 2 and 3 way way too much.  We’ve become a world of remakes and redos thinking it will satisfy the masses.

I’m no longer satisfied with the same thing dressed in blue instead of red.  Hey Michael get your feet to come up with a new show then I’ll consider seeing it.

I've never been wild about this style of dance anyway. I enjoyed this very much. You have this laid out beautifully and it is easy to understand. Keep up the great HUBS. Up one and Useful. Hey! I'm now your fan! RJ
